Choral singing has featured prominantly in Welsh tradition since the 18th century, with World-famous male choirs forming from the coal and slate quarry communities of North and South Wales. This working man’s tradition expanded to the chapels and rugby clubs, joining men and women of every background and age. Today, there are over 200 male, female and mixed choirs based in Wales with a number of them traveling regularly abroad performing and competing – this album is a compilation of popular favourites peformed by mixed, female and male choirs from Wales, and from listening to the album there is no doubt that Welsh choral singing is flourishing!
